Making Tax Digital

Making Tax Digital (MTD) will affect most businesses by changing how business records are kept and how tax information is sent to HMRC.
The first stage of MTD was for VAT returns, and we have successfully helped our VAT registered clients to meet their MTD obligations.
The next stage, Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self-Assessment (MTD for ITSA), will become mandatory for certain self-employed individuals and property landlords from 6 April 2026. We will be able to recommend suitable software and help you prepare.
This change in the way HMRC wants information from tax payers means that you may need to move from your existing desktop or manual record keeping and onto an online accounting package.
The good news is we are certified partners of QuickBooks Online, Xero, and Sage Business Cloud Accounting. These cloud accounting packages reduce the burden of managing your business finances and provide many other advantages that are detailed on our Cloud Accounting page, as well as being digitally compliant.
Some of our clients have already gone digital and they are delighted with the results. Here are just a few of the comments we’ve heard:
"Amazing, I can’t believe what a difference this has made to my business!"
"We never have to do back-ups of our system again!"
"We love the fact we can post invoices, check the bank and see who owes us money using the App on our phone!"
Fee Protection Service
To give our clients even greater peace of mind, we offer a fee protection service. For a small annual fee, you are protected against the professional costs of dealing with an HMRC investigation. This service is backed by an insurance policy held by the firm, ensuring that if you are selected for an enquiry, our fees for handling the process are covered.
As part of this service, you will also have access to a business, employment and legal helpline, giving you expert advice on a wide range of legal matters whenever you need it.
Dealing with HMRC without expert support can be daunting. We not only remove the stress of handling the investigation yourself but also use our knowledge of tax law and procedure to ensure your rights are protected and your liabilities are minimised.
Our approach is professional, discreet, and proactive. We explain the process clearly, keep you fully informed, and work tirelessly to resolve matters as quickly and smoothly as possible.
If you are facing an HMRC investigation, don’t panic—let us do the hard work for you. Contact our team today to discuss your situation and to find out more about the protection and peace of mind offered by our fee protection service.
